A few days ago NASA and the European Space Agency released the Hubble Ultra Deep Field (HUDF) 2014 - the latest in a series of deep space images (see the other three here) captured by the Hubble Space Telescope. This image is “among the most colorful deep space images ever captured”.

The first time I saw the Hubble UDF image was the closest thing to a religious experience I’ve ever had.  Take a moment to realize what exactly you’re looking at.  This image captures nearly 10,000 galaxies, each containing millions to billions of stars in a section of sky roughly the size of a postage stamp held at arm’s length.  Scary to some, but I find solace in understanding my own insignificance.
